Vintage Lens Test

Vintage Lens: Minolta MC Rokkor - PF 58mm 1.4

Welcome,

Here we have arguably one of the better value lenses from the 60’s. The lens is constructed in 6 elements in 5 groups, weights 275g and the closest focusing distant is 0.6m.

My version is in great condition clean glass, no fungus and the aperture ring is snappy. I bought it from the original owner who took great care of it. He didn’t service the lens which shows how great Minolta made this lenses in the 60’s. I paid $100 including a Minolta SRT-101 that I’m testing right now (I forgot how long does it takes to go thru 24 exposures of film).

The lens is soft, dreamy and hazy wide open. It becomes more contrasty as you stop down the lens and by f5.6 is as good as is going to get. This sample photos where taken on a Fujifilm GFX 100s using a tripod and 2sec timer delay, at iso 100.
